The idea
A portfolio you can walk around in. Rikesh Desk is a low-poly model of my home studio and the park outside it. Every object in the room is a section of my portfolio: the screens show work, the shelves hold my stack, the window opens onto the about section.
What I built
- A three.js scene with no build step: plain ES modules, loaded straight in the browser.
- A walking avatar: click anywhere on the floor and he walks there, finding his own way around furniture with A* path-finding on a navigation grid, with smoothed (string-pulled) paths.
- A guided camera tour: scroll, use the arrow keys, or tap the dots to fly between camera stops. Each stop frames both the object and the spot where the avatar acts.
- HTML overlay panels driven by the camera, with the content generated from this portfolio’s own data so the two always match.
- Touch support for phones and tablets.
